Sunday Selfie #7

This week, Bear's on strike so we have a guest for our entry in The Cat on My Head's Sunday Selfies blog hop. Why is Bear on strike? TASTY WHOLE CHICKENS. Or should I say, LACK THEREOF. Hopefully after some quality Momma/Bear time and a bag or two of Bear's favorite treats, he'll be back to work next week. If not, Momma might have to capitulate and give him a tasty whole chicken or two. Don't tell him that though or he'll never give in.

{MOOOOMMMMMMMA! What are you doing?}
NOTHING!
{HAHAHA. Without me, we can't be part of the blog hop! SHOWS YOU! Tasty whole chickens, HERE COMES BEAR CAT! No chickens means no Bear Cat!}
Err ... I ... umm ... I don't know HOW the blog will survive!
{HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE. All this striking is making me tired. NAP TIME!}

Sheesh. So who's our guest subject? Kitty-Kitty. She was Momma's cat up to and for six months after adopting Bear. She didn't like Bear too much and probably for good reason too as he never left her alone. With this blog about how Bear's saved my life and taught me to live, I always feel guilty because Kitty was just important. Without her, I wouldn't have survived my pretty nasty teens and twenties. Without her, there wouldn't have been a me left for Bear to save. So indulge me for a week as I share Kitty. She hated attention - but loved her Mom. And I miss her every single day ... even after nine years ... and even despite how full my life is with Bear. To read more about Kitty, check out: Kitty-Kitty: Unoriginal Name, One-of-a-Kind Cat. The pictures below are from that post - so if you're interested in knowing more about the pictures, that's the place to go. Some of these have been scanned in (not originally digital), others are poor quality (from before my ex-husband and I got a hang of digital), and a gazillion more are lost as prints here, there, and no where.
ps - You can see our previous Sunday Selfie posts here: #1#2#3#4,  #4.5#5, and #6

These didn't make that post because of the poor quality ... but I fixed them as much as I could here so you could see she was my little box (or filing cabinet) girl ... with only three fangs (missing one of her top ones ... in the picture, she's hissing at my ex-husband ... they WERE NOT friends).

    1. Yes. Some days are worse than others ... but I'd still give anything for just one more day. ~Momma

  2. Hi Momma, a picture is always more than the sum of the images, they say so much more and give us not only sadness but joy, the secret is in remembering which truly means more. PS tell Bear not to hold out too long, as he may lose his spot on the blog! maybe settle for a wing and a breast and a lot of cuddles. purrs from your pal ERin (Princess of Mouses)

    1. You're right. Kitty wasn't a princess, but she'd give him a run for his cat treats, nonetheless :)

    2. Beautiful selfies! Remember they are always with us, no matter how long or short time we have our kitties.

  3. Oh I loved seeing these beautiful pictures of Kitty-Kitty. It's amazing how animals help us (and sometimes save us) in so many ways. My first dog Pip (who the blog is named after) truly saved me. We were very much alike and kind of like one heart and mind. When he passed away in 2013 I was totally shattered, but then Ruby came along and she saved me from the loss of losing Pip. I totally get that there are days when it all comes back and you miss them so much.

    Thanks for sharing Kitty Kitty with us and of course, thank you for sharing Bear with us as well! I'm so happy to have discovered your blog! I love the pictures of her with the salad - can't tell if she liked salad or not.

    1. Kitty was NUTS with that bag of salad. After the first night, my then-husband refused to eat it so I got it out for her every night until it was too disgusting to keep. She had a produce fetish ... the melons always rolled away from her though :)

      Since starting the blog, I've given it a lot of thought. Kitty helped me survive when survival was the best I could hope for. Bear helped me LIVE when I got out of my abusive childhood and finally had the chance to do something beyond just surviving. I need them both - they both kept me alive - just in different ways. I find it so miraculous that I got the exact cat I needed when I needed a specific cat. God, the Universe, whatever you want to call it.

    1. When I had her, I had no idea there was a such thing as a "tortie," but her coat was definitely a strange mix of tabby and tortie - the tortie came out more as she got older. She always had the "tortitude" though. I miss that. I miss everything about her. People say it gets easier, but it doesn't. Life just gets in the way ... but sit and THINK about it and it's like it happened yesterday.

    1. Yes. When people try to tell me that to heal the pain of losing a cat, you should just get another it really bugs me. But Bear is the perfect proof that NO MATTER HOW AMAZING ALL FUTURE CATS ARE, no matter HOW much of your life they fill, there will ALWAYS be a cat shaped hole in your heart for the one you lost.

    1. True. People say it gets easier. Life gets in the way. But sit down and think about it or look through pictures and it feels like yesterday. The hole never goes away ... you just find ways to go on living.
